Visiting so many places of historical significance surely is overwhelming and definitely a wee bit tiring. So, how does one cope with visiting Sultan Ghari, Agrasen ki Baoli, Humayun’s Tomb, Qutub Minar and Surajkund? With a drink, of course! 😉
And if you are in Delhi, one of the best bars in town is definitely Cocktails & Dreams, Speakeasy in Gurgaon. I don’t say that. After all, I am not much of a drinking man (boy?). But, people who are in the know about bars in Delhi do!
But, I definitely am a social person and I do know an interesting person when I meet one, and Yangdup Lama, who co-owns the bar, is definitely one hell of a guy!
So, if you get a chance to chat up with Yangdup at his bar, I can assure you that it will be one fun encounter.
Hailing from the hill station of Darjeeling in my state of West Bengal, which is my favourite holiday destination, Yangdup is one of India’s top mixologists. He was adjudged The Indian Bartender of the Year in 1996 and the Asia-Pacific 30 under 30 in 1997. But, what left me most impressed was his down to earth demeanor and wonderful sense of humour!
What did he concoct for me? Couple of cocktails whose names I don’t remember, but I do recall that one of them was a whiskey based cocktail, which was a-m-a-z-i-n-g! But even more heady was the adda( Bengali version of chatting) we had, sharing stories of Calcutta.
I did happen to have my camera with me, and managed to take some steady shots after all those heady cocktails! 🙂 Let me know if you liked them!
