“Excuse me, would you mind moving a little. I need to locate my sister in the crowd.” With that, the star of the night jumped over the bamboo barricade and disappeared into the crowd!
A friend once told me that I never run out of stories or anecdotes to narrate! How I met Thomas is also an anecdote worth narrating.
This was last year during the Chinese New Year celebration. I had gone to the function held at Old China Town to usher in the New Year. Thomas was performing and was introduced by the MC as the “Chinese Stevie Wonder”. As I had mentioned in my blog about the event, I loved his voice, though I could understand nothing of the lyrics!
Later during the same function, I had a brush with the MAN himself, when he uttered those famous words I mentioned in the beginning… 🙂 🙂
It was thanks to my blog, that I gained Thomas as a friend because he stumbled upon the post and the rest, as they say, is history.
I was very pleasantly surprised last year in September, when he invited me to the Chinese Autumn Festival, being celebrated by the Indian Chinese community in Kolkata, held at the Sacred Heart Chinese School in Kolkata. These photographs were taken during Thomas’ performance at the event. I intend to post more pictures of the event in my next post. But, this one is exclusively of Thomas.
If you want to hear Thomas sing, do check out his FB page: https://www.facebook.com/thomas.winghong
Hope you enjoyed the post! 🙂
